Welcome to the Sunningwell Parish Council Website
Sunningwell is an ancient settlement in a fold of the slopes which lead down from Boars Hill towards Abingdon. Its name reveals its origins. The Parish covers Sunningwell, Bayworth, part of Boars Hill and Whitecross.

SUNNINGWELL VILLAGE GREEN
FIREWORKS and BONFIRE 2 November 2013
The firework evening was attended by about three times the 80 people anticipated and was a great success. The Parish Council is very grateful to eveyone that worked so hard to make the event a success. Here a few pictures
The Parish Council now has a clear management plan for Sunningwell Parish Village Green on the area previously known as the Glebe.
A public meeting attended by over twenty people took place on Wednesday the 26th June to discuss the plan and seek comments and recommendations.
The current proposals are to install signage at the two main entrances to the Village Green, pedestrian gates at the north and east access points, fencing around the water course, benches, and dog bins, as well as undertaking regular grass cutting and hedgerow maintenance.
Areas such as the historic "ridge and furrow" have been identified as natural habitats and will be set aside to promote and encourage flora and fauna. The remaining areas will be cut twice a month during the growing season, and less often during the winter.
A Village Green committee has been formed to organise and manage events which are to take place on the Village Green, and plans will be put in place over the coming 12 months for a fireworks display and bonfire on Saturday the 2nd November, carol singing on Monday the 23rd December as well as a fete and a music event this summer.
This requires that we display the Council's Registers of Interests. This is best done by the following link to the Vale of White Horse District Council's website
