Sewer flooding in Sunningwell

The parish council has been pressing Thames Water to take urgent action to prevent further incidents of foul water flooding in the village. Thames Water engineers have cleared some blockages, but it is believed that the main problem is the capacity of the holding tank and its pump which was installed some years ago west of the Sunningwell Road/Wootton Road junction, particularly during times of heavy rainfall when foul water backs up the sewer. We have asked for this holding tank and the pump to be uprated, and have been informed that Thames Water’s Engineering department is now considering further investigations including a study to find a solution.

Thames Water has asked that residents affected by foul water flooding incidents report them immediately to Thames Water using a special questionnaire which can be found by clicking here

The more information about actual incidents that Thames Water has will help advance the timing of the investigatory work. The following reference number should be quoted: 80130 467295
